Key Features & Innovations

SaphirKeramik

A revolution in the formal language of ceramics: Strong and malleable, SaphirKeramik permits the creation of wafer-thin walls and tight-edge radii of just 2 to 3mm while retaining the traditional production process. Its slender profile renders it space-saving, lightweight and environmentally friendly. SaphirKeramik derives its exceptional hardness and strength from its component corundum, (AI2O3), a colourless mineral found in eponymous sapphires. Rigorous testing has revealed that its flexural strength is equal to that of steel. Laufen can use a thinner ceramic body and a simpler structure to reduce the weight compared with conventional ceramic. The benefits are manifold: lower raw material costs and energy consumption in production and transportation.

cUPC Listed

The Uniform Plumbing Code (cUPC) and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) are trade organizations that cooperatively meet to create mechanical design and test routines for plumbing products. These are trade organizations tasked with creating guidelines for safe and interchangeable products that provide value for consumers and competitiveness among manufacturers. All of LAUFEN Bathroom ceramic products (unless noted otherwise) meet the design requirements and laboratory testing demands of these organizations. Organizations that provide this testing routine include the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO Group), whom has issued several of LAUFEN’s certifications.
