International Residential Code requires at least 21 inches of clear floor space in front of the sink and vanity, even in a small bathroom. Start by measuring the front edge of the wall or fixture opposite your existing sink or vanity (or the spot where you want the new one if you're doing a full remodel). You'll need to make sure you leave at least 15 inches of clear floor space when you measure from the center of the vanity to any side wall. And if you have family members with mobility issues, you'll want to increase those measurements. For example, in public spaces, the Americans with Disabilities Act requires 30 inches in front of bathroom vanities and 48 inches of side clearance. If you have a smaller space, but are struggling to find a vanity that will fit right and look good, we have an extensive line of small bathroom vanities to choose from.
If you like under-sink storage, consider a corner vanity and match it with a corner medicine cabinet. These “corner-styles” are the perfect bathroom vanities for small bathrooms because they give you more wall and floor space, but also add a modern feel as well. We have many different styles of corner vanities: you can find one as small as 14 inches wide for extra-small spaces. For bathrooms with a bit more space, you can use the advanced search feature to narrow the items you see based on your measurements – we offer bathroom vanities from less than 16 to more than 72 inches wide. But vanity size is only one consideration for remodeling a small bathroom. Consider one of our pedestal or wall mount sinks for a stylish and simple way to conserve valuable real estate.
